Facebook Graph Search Introduced – The Social Search Engine Tool
Facebook has announced a new search feature better know as Graph Search, which is built on the network’s Social Graph. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg says that the company has worked on this feature for over an year and claims that no other services offers much more than any other.
The Facebook Graph Search is not a Web search engine, says Mark Zuckerburg, and that it has they have taken the user privacy into consideration. The Graph Search is designed to take the precise query and then deliver an answer.
Facebook CEO claims that you can only search contents that has been shared with you, but it is also possible to search for something like TV Shows or Music liked etc.
The Facebook Graph Search is completely built on the company’s Social Graph database which allows users to find places they have visited, the places their friends visited, restaurants recommended, photos that are shared etc.
As per Mark Zuckerburg, if you want to know the power of Facebook Graph Search, then you have to use it at least once. He further says that this new tool forms the “Third Pillar” of the social ecosystem, the first one being the ‘News Feed” and the second one being the “Timeline”.
There were many rumors about Facebook working on its own mobile phone and the company’s very own messenger for iPad, but now we know that none of these rumors are true as the company rolled out the Graph Search feature. Facebook Graph Search is an important update as it can become an important part in the social network’s functionality.
The privacy concerns are also taken into consideration with the Facebook Graph Search. Zuckerburg said that with this new tool, you can search only the content that is shared with you, and added that every searchable content searched with this tool has its own audience.
Before Facebook Graph Search gets used by users, the News Feed will have a message promoting these new privacy settings so that every Facebook user is aware of this new feature.
For now Facebook Graph Search is available as a limited preview and for English audiences only. You can join the waiting list to know when you can start using this service.
